This latest outreach, a major component of the activities commemorating his first 100 days in office, saw the Chairman and his team visit schools across Ladoje, Oke-Koto, Oko-Oba, and Tabon-Tabon communities, delivering educational materials directly to eager pupils.

In a bold stride toward transforming Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area into a model of urban cleanliness, the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu also known as (Dodo), convened a pivotal engagement session with landlords and property owners of Ward B on Wednesday. The meeting, held at the Council Secretariat, marked the second leg of a ward-by-ward environmental sanitation outreach commemorating the administration’s first 100 days in office.

Following the momentum of the Ward A session, the Ward B gathering drew a robust turnout. Among the attendees were Vice Chairman Hon. Wale Fayemi (WF), Leader of the House, Hon. Omotunde AbdulKareem Afolabi (Aphoo), Councillors, Ward-Chairmen, Party stalwarts, cabinet officials, LAWMA representatives, and a cross-section of community stakeholders.

Mayor Dodo used the platform to spotlight the urgent environmental issues plaguing the LCDA, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering resolve to enforce sanitation laws, enhance waste disposal systems, and foster a culture of civic responsibility.

Key Highlights from the Chairman’s Address:

Zero Tolerance for Drainage Dumping: Residents and landlords were sternly warned against disposing waste in drainages, a practice linked to flooding and public health risks.

Debt Relief and Waste Bill Reforms: The Council has fully offset all LAWMA-related waste debts from 1999 to 2023. To further ease the burden, bills from 2023 to 2025 will be slashed by 50%.

Prompt Payment Culture: Citizens are encouraged to settle new waste bills promptly to sustain service delivery.

Introduction of Job Cards: Each household will receive a Job Card to monitor waste collection schedules and ensure accountability.

Dedicated Waste Evacuation Truck: Plans are underway to procure a specialized truck for clearing drainage waste, preventing re-entry into waterways.

The interactive session allowed Ward B landlords to voice concerns on billing transparency, drainage upkeep, and enforcement strategies. Chairman Dodo responded candidly, assuring residents of ongoing dialogue and inclusive governance.

He emphasized that the ward-to-ward engagement will continue daily until all six wards (A–F) are reached, ensuring no community is left behind in the sanitation reform agenda.

Akinola Abiodun Idowu popularly known as (Dodo), has taken a bold step toward educational development by launching a large-scale distribution of free writing materials to primary school pupils across the council area.

The initiative, which commenced at Oyewole Primary School, benefitted pupils from five schools within the same premises. Each child joyfully received 10 customized exercise books, creating an atmosphere of delight and appreciation. The distribution wasn’t left to delegation, Hon. Akinola led from the front, personally engaging with the pupils and staff.

Accompanied by key figures including the Vice Chairman Hon. Wale Fayemi (WF), Leader of the Legislative House Hon. ‎1. Curbing Indiscriminate Waste Disposal
‎
‎The Chairman strongly condemned the widespread practice of dumping refuse in drainage channels and roadsides. He reiterated that such acts endanger public health and contribute to perennial flooding.

‎2. Cancellation of Outstanding LAWMA Bills (1999–2022)
‎
‎He announced a major breakthrough in discussions with PSP and LAWMA stakeholders, resulting in the total cancellation of all outstanding LAWMA bills from 1999 to 2022.
‎Bills accumulated from 2023 till date will now be spread over 12 months for convenient instalment payments.

‎3. Withdrawal of Court Cases
‎
‎Homeowners and PSP operatives were urged to withdraw all ongoing court cases involving Orile Agege LCDA for the sake of progress and smooth community administration.

‎4. Standardization of PSP Billing
‎
‎The Chairman advocated for uniform and transparent PSP billing structures across all wards to eliminate discrepancies.
‎
‎5. Introduction of Job Cards for PSP Service Delivery
‎
‎To ensure accountability, the administration will introduce job cards that help track and verify PSP activities in each community.
‎
‎6. Strict Penalties for Indiscriminate Waste Disposal
‎‎He warned that anyone caught disposing refuse unlawfully will face stringent fines as part of the council’s environmental enforcement strategy.

‎7. Strengthening Local Security – 100-Man Force
‎
‎Hon. Akinola disclosed plans to recruit 50 Local Army personnel and 50 Local Surveillance officers, all to be formally registered under the Paramole Force, to enhance security and environmental compliance.

‎8. Proper Waste Storage
‎
‎Residents were advised to always store their waste in standard waste bins to make evacuation by PSP operatives easier and more efficient.

‎9. Purchase of Compactors & IGR Boost Through Waste Processing
‎
‎The Chairman revealed that the council is taking steps to acquire a waste compactor truck and begin waste-to-revenue processing, which will serve as an internally generated revenue stream for the LCDA.

‎During the interactive session, residents raised several issues, including:

‎The need to deploy security agents to arrest offenders who dispose waste indiscriminately.
‎
‎Complaints of irregular PSP service delivery, which the Chairman promised to address urgently.

‎The urgent need for rehabilitation of Powerline Street Road in Orile Agege.
‎
‎A call for a committee to review and determine waivers for old waste bills.
‎

Under the banner of the Old Students Association, the 1995 Set Alumni came back to give back, rekindling memories while inspiring the next generation.

Akinola Abiodun Idowu (Dodo), paid a significant courtesy visit to his counterpart, the Executive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area, Alhaji Abiodun Jimoh Ishola Ejigbadero, on Monday, 24th November 2025, at the Agbado Oke-Odo Council Secretariat.

The visit, which was marked by mutual respect and administrative synergy, further deepens the relationship between both LCDAs as they continue to share best practices and development-driven initiatives. Hon. Akinola, known for his open-minded leadership style and commitment to grassroots advancement, was accompanied by key officers, include the Council Manager of Orile-Agege LCDA, Dr. Adekoya Adesanya, and the Council Treasurer, Mr. Sodiq Mabeko Rasaq.

Hon. Akinola expressed appreciation to Alhaji Ejigbadero for his warm reception and encouraged continued collaboration that fosters unity and accelerated development across council boundaries. In the spirit of progressive leadership and inclusive governance, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, has once again demonstrated his commitment to transparency, accountability, and grassroots development through a remarkable 3-Day Budget and Procurement Retreat held from Thursday, 20th to Saturday, 22nd November 2025 at Osmak Hotel, Zionist Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The retreat, themed around the strategic planning and implementation of the 2026 Fiscal Year, brought together the Executive arm, Legislative Council, Management Staff, and Key Political-Stakeholders from Orile-Agege LCDA. It was not merely an administrative retreat, but a comprehensive training and reflection forum that showcased the leadership style of Hon. Akinola, a man known widely as (Dodo) and even more i deeply identify as (Dodo-D-Doer), a leader with an open heart.

Stakeholders praised his leadership as people-centered, intellectually driven, and rooted in sincerity. His ability to break down governance to its core, service to humanity, was evident in his remarks, where he emphasized that “Budgeting must be people-focused, and procurement must be integrity-based.”

The retreat also saw the inauguration of key statutory committees: the Procurement Planning Committee (PPC), Tender’s Committee, and Evaluation Committee, with clear mandates to ensure transparency and fairness in contract processes for the new fiscal year.

Attendees included the Vice Chairman Hon. Wale Fayemi, Leader of the House Hon. Omotunde AbdulKareem Afolabi (Aphoo), Deputy Leader Hon. Balogun Waheed (Balo), Council Manager Dr. Adekoya Adesanya, Council Treasurer, Mr. Sodiq Mabeko Rasaq, and many Department-Heads, Councillors, and Technocrats, all united in purpose and vision.

As the retreat closed on a high note, one thing became clear: Orile-Agege LCDA is in the hands of a visionary leader who is not only competent but deeply compassionate. Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu’s heart for service, ability to carry everyone along, and commitment to sustainable development have once again been reaffirmed.

Unlike conventional political gatherings, this retreat prioritized learning, openness, performance review, and mutual respect among the council leadership. Participants engaged in hands-on-sessions about the Functions of Statutory Committees, the Role of Accounting Officers, and Public Procurement Law in Local Government Operations, crucial areas often overlooked in local governance.

With his Open-Minded approach, the 2025 Budget-performance was reviewed transparently, highlighting achievements and acknowledging areas that require improvement. The 2026 Budget-Proposal was also unveiled, presenting bold plans for infrastructure, education, health, environmental sanitation, youth empowerment, and digital governance.

His welcoming nature throughout the retreat created a collaborative atmosphere, where every participant, regardless of rank, felt heard, seen, and valued. He didn’t just lead the retreat; he listened, learned, and inspired.

In this retreat, he did not just speak, he acted, and in doing so, ignited a renewed spirit of unity, purpose, and governance with integrity in Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area.
