Idowu welcomed the delegate from the institution led by Mrs. Adeniran Grace Abosede, Deputy Registrar. In a defining moment for administrative unity and visionary leadership, the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, Hon. Idowu Akinola Abiodun, also known as Dodo, alongside Vice Chairman Hon. Wale Fayemi (WF), held first formal interactive engagement with council management and staff at the Council Secretariat Hall.
The meeting, held shortly after the monthly prayer service on monday morning 4th of August 2025, which was designed to foster team spirit, reinforce workplace synergy, and reiterate the administration’s commitment to collaborative growth and inclusive governance.
Council Manager Dr. Adekoya Adesanya warmly welcomed attendees and officially introduced the Chairman to the podium. In his address, Hon. Akinola expressed profound gratitude to the council workforce for their unwavering commitment, acknowledging that the success of his administration is deeply tied to the dedication of each staff member.
“Without you, there is no me,” he stated passionately. “I am here to serve the people of Orile-Agege LCDA, and to do so effectively, I need each one of you more than ever before.”

The serene atmosphere of the Orile-Agege LCDA Secretariat came alive on the first Monday of August as the Local Council Development Area’s management and staff gathered for their monthly interfaith prayer service and a joyful celebration of August-born colleagues.
This monthly tradition, held at the Secretariat on Arigbanla Street off Iyana-Ipaja Road, was revitalized under the leadership of newly elected Chairman, Hon. Idowu Akinola Abiodun, fondly known as Dodo, who officially assumed office on July 28 following his swearing-in ceremony conducted by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, HE Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.
The event began with a solemn Islamic prayer led by a revered Islamic scholar. He recited verses from the Holy Qur’an and offered spiritual guidance, emphasizing the importance of integrity, humility, and unity in service. The Christian segment was led by Hon. Babatunde Johnson, immediate past Chairman of the council, who honored the gathering at the invitation of Hon. Akinola.
Hon. Johnson, with warmth and encouragement, spoke to the council team about commitment, legacy, and hope. He commended Chairman Akinola for inheriting a dedicated management crew, encouraging them to continue working cohesively while assuring staff that their welfare remains a top priority.
A celebratory moment followed as August celebrants were recognized and ushered forward. Smiles and camaraderie filled the room as they cut a beautifully decorated birthday cake and shared blessings amongst themselves.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. The day began with a vibrant church thanksgiving service held at Decross Gospel Mission, Oyewole Road, Agege, where gratitude was poured out for a victory borne of grace, resilience, and community support. The ceremony held today 3rd of August, 2025 at Decross Gospel Mission, located at 13/15 Oyewole Road, Mulero Bus Stop, Agege, Lagos, was presided over by Bishop Folarin Obe, under the spiritual authority of the church’s founder, Evangelist Prof. Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, a highly revered gospel music icon and cleric. The event drew a robust gathering of dignitaries, council leaders, stakeholders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the state.
In his heartfelt address, Hon. Akinola expressed profound appreciation to God for His mercies throughout his journey, one marked by perseverance, dedication, and divine favor, despite his modest beginnings. He credited God Almighty for elevating him to his current position and vowed to remain grounded, seeking wisdom and guidance from above to serve the people of Orile-Agege LCDA diligently and faithfully.

INTRODUCTION
In the dynamic landscape of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, one name echoes with unwavering loyalty, people-focused leadership, and community-driven progress: Hon. Idowu Akinola Abiodun, fondly called Dodo. Known far and wide across Agege Local Government Area and Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, for his deep-rooted political presence, Dodo has carved a legacy of genuine love for his people. He is admired not just for his charisma and intelligence, but for his untiring dedication to grassroots development. Dodo represents the essence of servant-leadership, humble, effective, and always present where the people need him.
BEFORE HIS ELECTION AS CHAIRMAN
Before ascending to the helm of Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. Idowu Akinola Abiodun was already an institution within the community. His tireless dedication, even without many official title, set him apart. He was a Man of Action, known for rendering help to those in need, often with the little he had, yet always with a big heart.
Dodo’s loyalty to his mentor, RT. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, the esteemed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Agege Constituency 1, stood as a testament to his unwavering principles. Through thick and thin, his allegiance remained intact, rooted in respect, vision, and purpose. He was not just a follower, but a strategic thinker, a silent builder of relationships and dreams.
Many referred to him as a political icon in waiting, more so (A’gbajowo laafi n s’oya) already mentoring younger minds and leading initiatives that strengthened community participation in governance. His pre-election years were the foundation of his credibility, service, and unmatched work ethic.
When the campaign bell rang, Dodo did not sit in comfortt, he hit the streets. A truly grassroots politician, he understood that power belongs to the people and leadership must be earned.
From Agege to Orile-Agege, his campaign was a movement, energetic, heartfelt, and visible. He led from forefront, personally engaging residents, listening to concerns, and promising not just change, but continuity of care.
What stood out during the campaign was his humility, never too proud to walk alleyways, greet elders, and play with the youth. There was no corner untouched, no voice unheard. His campaign wasn’t about slogans alone (Dodo dodo, dodo dodo, dodo dodo, dodo mo se e dada), It was about his strength, a Man who knows and understand his job perfectly and accurately. More so, the people felt it with joy.
Victory came not just by chance, but through proven trust. Hon. Idowu Akinola Abiodun made history with a groundbreaking win, securing nearly 41,000 Votes in an Unopposed-race where all other parties stood down, choosing instead to support his candidacy. What a record breaking.
This rare political unity signified more than an election win, it signaled a Mandate from all corners of society, a coalition of hope rooted in Dodo’s track record. No one had ever achieved such magnitude in Agege and Orile-Agege’s electoral history, and perhaps not even across Lagos State. It was not just his moment, it was the people’s moment.
I, as his lover, supporter, study him with his actions of relentless, called him “A (Machine) that never tires,” and rightly so, for the momentum that carried him to victory was built on years of consistent effort, sincerity, and presence.
His first week in office didn’t feel like the beginning, it felt like continuity. He carried the same momentum, passion, and humility into leadership.
What struck observers most was his spiritual grounding: he began each day with morning devotion at the council office, placing God at the center of governance. This wasn’t symbolic, it was sincere and set the tone for a new kind of public service.
Whether you were Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, or from any tribe, Dodo’s door was open. From sunrise to nightfall, he received visitors with patience, attentiveness, and care.
His plans, policies, and vision were already unfolding in strategy meetings and staff briefings. It wasn’t just governance, it was transparent governance, guided by values and centered around people.
EXPECTATIONS AHEAD
As a citizen and observer, I hold high expectations for the administration of Hon. Idowu Akinola Abiodun. And I believe they are well-founded.
His credibility, tireless energy, and inclusive approach suggest a future of prosperity and transformation. Under his leadership, we can expect:

ORILE AGEGE CHAIRMAN HOLDS FIRST MANAGEMENT MEETING
The Executive Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Ìdòwú Abiodun, on Tuesday, 30th July 2025, held his first familiarization meeting with the management team of the council at the Secretariat’s Conference Room.
The meeting, which was well attended by all the Management Team ably led by the Council Manager, Dr. Adekoya Adesanya, served as an opportunity for the Chairman to share his vision and expectations with the management team, while fostering synergy for the new administration.
In his address, Hon. Akinola appreciated the dedication and efforts of the management team and emphasized the need for unity, professionalism, and teamwork in discharging their responsibilities. He reiterated that the success of the administration is dependent on diligence, collaboration, and a shared commitment to serving the people with integrity and love.
The Chairman emphasised that “Civil servants and elected officers must work hand in hand as one team to meet the high expectations of our community. We owe our people purposeful leadership, transparent governance, and impactful service delivery”.

HON. OMOTUNDE AFOLABI SALUTES ORILE-AGEGE LEADERSHIP, EXPRESSES GRATITUDE AFTER EMERGENCE AS LEADER OF THE LEGISLATIVE HOUSE

The Arigbanla Council Secretariat of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area was radiant with promise and energy as the 6th Legislative Council was inaugurated in a ceremonious swearing-in presided over by Executive Chairman Hon. Idowu Akinola Abiodun, fondly referred to as Dodo. Among the highlights of the historic day was the elevation of Hon. Omotunde AbdulKareem Afolabi, Councilor representing Ward D, who emerged as the Leader of the Legislative House.
Following his democratic emergence as House Leader, Hon. Omotunde Afolabi addressed the press Wisdom Diary, Agbajowo Media, and community with heartfelt gratitude and humility. In his words:
“I am deeply honored by the confidence my colleagues have placed in me. To be elected Leader of the House is more than a title, it is a mandate of trust, accountability, and unity. I thank each councilor for believing in me and never turning me down. Together, we will deliver a legislative term rooted in the values of service, equity, and transformation.”
He also gave special appreciation to the visionary Chairman, Hon. Idowu Akinola Abiodun, commending his leadership and unwavering commitment to grassroots governance.
“Chairman has continuously demonstrated that local government is the closest and most meaningful tier of public service. Today’s swearing-in marks not just a democratic duty, but a rekindling of our collective aspirations.”
In a show of solidarity and gratitude, Hon. Afolabi congratulated Hon. Balogun Ajibade, Councilor for Ward B, for his successful appointment as Deputy Leader of the Legislative Chamber, citing his dedication and integrity as key assets for the council’s progress.
“Leadership is a journey best walked in good company. Hon. Ajibade has bring wisdom and resolve to our chamber from the past 5th legislative house. I’m excited to work closely with him and all my colleagues to make real impact across every ward.”
Hon. Afolabi extended his appreciation to the RT, Hon Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, RT, Hon Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa: -The past and present Executive and Legislative arms of Orile-Agege LCDA -Political leaders and party delegates -Traditional rulers and cultural custodians Management team and council staff -Youth representatives and community influencers -The ever-watchful and supportive residents of Orile-Agege
He praised their presence at the ceremony and acknowledged their ongoing role in shaping the future of the LCDA.
Gratitude was also extended to Lemboye Abiola’s Wisdom Diary, Agbajowo Media and other Press-Media, who were on ground to capture every moment of the swearing-in and have pledged to continue chronicling the pulse of development across Agege and Orile-Agege.
“Documentation is the memory of leadership. These media platforms remind us that accountability begins with visibility. Their lens tells our story, and we are grateful for it.”
In closing, Hon. Omotunde AbdulKareem Afolabi reaffirmed his dedication to every ward, every voice, and every aspiration within Orile-Agege LCDA.
“I promise to lead with integrity, listen with humility, and serve with unwavering commitment. Our legislative house will be a mirror of the people’s will, and together, we will rise.”
